Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant’s primary responsibility is to support the Controller in the timely and accurate closing of monthly accounting records, including preparing and reviewing entries and reconciliations, performing financial statement review and analysis and promoting process improvement initiatives.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for Net Revenue calculations for the FEDs and prepares related letters that is distributed to Regional CFO.
Serves as primary resource to Accountants for daily and monthly Accounting/AR/AP/ PFS/ & Supply Chain processes.
Coordinates Internal and External Audit requests.
Participates in Annual Budget preparation.
Assists with month-end review of schedules prepared by Accountants.
Use advanced computer techniques to retrieve and analyze data and present results to management.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Timely and accurate preparation of month-end and year-end contractuals in accordance with UHS guidelines.
Effectively applies principles of accounting and statistical analysis to maintain general accounting systems.
Organizes, directs, prepares and posts entries to general ledgers.
Prepares financial statements with accuracy, completeness, reliability and timeliness with little or no supervision.
Maintains procedures to assure data confidentiality in the accounting department
Interfaces with hospital independent auditors, Medicare auditors, payroll auditors, sales tax auditors and other parties who have a contractual right to review the records of the facility.
Maintain all related systems and ensure enhancements and upgrades are properly tested and installed to meet installation deadlines without interrupting operations
Develop and maintain appropriate reporting capabilities as requested, including decision support, cost report support data.
Provides recommendations to management for establishing and achieving profit objectives.
Assesses alternatives and overall financial performance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university required.
Advanced degree preferred.
CPA preferred.
Three or more years of years in an accounting area, preferably in a health care setting.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
Good written and verbal communication, and the ability to function both independently and as a team player.
Detail oriented focus with solid problem solving ability and strong organizational skills required to handle multiple projects.
Strong computer skills required.
The ability to produce accurate and timely work is essential.
Must be able to perform analysis and create deliverables from general direction.
The ability to analyze financial data and present the results in a clear and concise format is required.
Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to DHL's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
